Sometimes reading is as good as gardening

My husband and I had a date today. Married for over 10 years and together for much longer, it's kind of fun to be able to say we had a date. We treated ourselves to lunch and then roamed around a fairly new open air shopping mall for quite a few hours getting in the walking we kept promising ourselves we would begin. One of the stores we visited was Borders Books. Wow - what a great way to be involved in gardening when you're not actually out there with your fingers in the soil.

There was a plethora of reading material from annuals to perennials, to the correct tools to water gardening. You name it it was there. More and more garden books are including full color gorgeous pictures of flowers and plants. The tool book even had Martha Stewart-like pictures of the gardening implements.

I leafed through several books but walked away empty-handed only because I have two shelves full at home. But it was a great way to spend a lovely fall day and tomorrow I'll be trimming shrubs and all the other fun things gardeners love to do. Guess I'll also have to plan to get another walk in. Happy Gardening.
